From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 24): AFP HSC on alert for 28th EDSA 1 Revolution anniversary
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Headquarter Support Command (HSC) was placed on red alert as the country celebrates the 28th anniversary of the EDSA 1 Revolution Tuesday, Feb. 25.
"The red alert status was declared at Camp Aguinaldo's headquarters service level because (the) People Power Shrine is located within the environs of the AFP general headquarters, with HSC as the only unit on alert to secure the shrine," AFP public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said.
He also clarified that there are no security threats detected for the annual event.
Zagala said that red alert status for HSC started 5 p.m Sunday and will be terminated once the celebration of EDSA 1 Revolution concludes.
HSC is composed of around 100 officers and enlisted personnel.
These include the military police, explosive ordnance division and K-9 units.
