The farm to market road in insurgency cleared barangays of Escalante City in Negros Occidental, built under the Barangay Development Program of Task Force ELCAC (Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict), is now 80 percent completed, disclosed yesterday by Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander.
A total of 14 insurgency cleared barangays in Escalante City received P20 million each worth of infrastructure projects under the BDP ELCAC.
The recipients are barangays of Alimango, Binaguiohan, Buenavista, Dian-ay, Japitan, Langub, Libertad, Mabini, Malasibog, Paitan, Pinapugasan, Rizal, Udtongan and Washington, all in Escalante City.
Pasaporte, accompanied by Mayor Melecio Yap, Lt. Col. J Jay Javines, 79th Infantry Battalion commander, and Engr. Joan Cabrera of the Department of Interior and Local Government inspected on March 25 the ongoing TF ELCAC funded projects in Brgys. Pinapugasan, Mabini, Rizal and Alimango, all in Escalante City.
The 14 Escalante City barangays benefitted by the various infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects under the BDP-ELCAC, including concreting of farm-to-market roads, construction of additional school classrooms and health centers, electrification, water system reservoirs enhancements and communal faucets, installation of solar streetlights with complete accessories, farm tractors with complete implements and provision of fertilizers to farmer-beneficiaries.
Twelve other insurgency cleared barangays in Negros Occidental also received P20 million each infrastructure projects.
Pasaporte said that the Philippine Army in Negros will continue to assist the DILG in terms of project implementation, monitoring and provision of necessary security support and assistance within their operational areas.
