The Philippine Army (PA) on Friday announced the first fatality in the fire and explosion that gutted the Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD) building at the Army Support Command inFort Bonifacio , Taguig City
Lt. Col. Noel Detoyato, PA spokesperson, identified the fatality as Cpl. Bernabe Mota, 30, and a member of the EOD Battalion.
Mota sustained massive burns from the fire and died around 10:01 a.m. Friday at theAFP Medical Center
"He was supposed to be transferred toEast Avenue Medical Center
Mota leaves behind a daughter.
PA commander Lt. Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri on Friday vowed to extend all possible assistance to the victims of the incident.
He made the pledged during his visit to the victims confined at theAFP Medical Center
"Their welfare and immediate recovery is the primary concern of the PA at this point," Iriberri stated.
