From the MILF Website (Apr 9): Village officials in Kabacan town organize peace advocacy
Village officials of Lower Paatan, Kabacan, North Cotabato organized and conducted an advocacy on Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) and its four annexes with the theme “Unity and Solidarity toward Sustainable Development”.
The activity was held on April 5 at Lower Paatan Elementary School where approximately 600 local folks attended that included Moro traditional leaders, Non-Moro community leaders with a majority comprising the women sector.
he program started with a recital of some verses of the Holy-Qur’an by Ustadz Nadzer Pigkaulan followed by a welcome address by Mr. Abdulracid Dima. Mr. Dima extended his profound gratitude to the participants and guests who graced the occasion. Barangay Council member Nasser Kedal delivered the opening remarks while Ustadz Kamarudin Pedtamanan briefly gave Islamic orientations.
In his message, Barangay Chairman Tony Maganaka said that the very purpose of the activity is to let everybody understand the progress of the GPH-MILF Peace Process.
MILF Information Director of North Cotabato presented the overview of the program. He said that the advocacy program was the first to be conducted after the signing of Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and more advocacies shall be held in North Cotabato.
Moidjoddin Talusob, Executive Director of Kalilintad Development Foundation, Inc. (KDFI) delved on the ministerial form of government for the Bangsamoro.
Professor Esmael Abdula, Chairman of Campaign and Mass Mobilization, Sub Committee on Information, Information Committee, MILF Central Committee and BLMI Steering Committee member and training officer provided updates on the CAB.
He said that it is a must for every Moro to know and understand the FAB and now, the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro, the latter is the compilation of the FAB and its four annexes.
In the open forum that followed, the Non-Muslim/Moro participants clarified on what would be their rights and roles under the proposed Bangsamoro new political entity. Both Mr. Abdula and Talusob cited the provisions in the FAB on the basic rights of all residents in the Bangsamoro.
They requested for another advocacy in their community that will include at least 5 neighboring barangays and Non-Muslim residents so they can understand thoroughly and be enlightened about the upcoming Bangsamoro Government.
