Two days after the historic signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro, MILF Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim spent two hours of fellowship with the chairman and commissioners of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission in a hotel in Manila where sessions are being held now since March 28.
Meeting the collegial body for the first time since its formal establishment last year, Al Haj Murad extended his belated congratulations for the commissioners for being in the agency that has “historic mission.”
“Your mission is to make sure we would succeed …. by structuring the fruits of the negotiations,” he said before the 15-man commission tasked with the drafting of the Bangsamoro Basic Law.
Murad emphasized the commission is in “the final touch”, with the negotiations having practically ended with the March 27 signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro.
“The works of the TC is no longer part of negotiation, but structuring the fruits of the negotiations; there should be no more adversarial relationship as usually happens in negotiations,” he stressed.
He urged the commissioners to become partners in making sure that the fruits of negotiations would be translated in reality.
The MILF, he stated, considers the GPH as a partner already, that the two are already “marching in a parallel line” towards development.
Murad said the Front recognized and appreciated the efforts of the Commission, especially with the difficult tasks being undertaken under time constraints.
The MILF chair told the commissioners that the struggle now is how to ensure that the agreement is translated into its letters and spirit.
