From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 1): 3 brand-new patrol boats for PCG to be delivered by Q3 of 2015
Three of the 10 patrol boats to be acquired fromJapan for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will be delivered by the third quarter of 2015, PCG spokesperson Cmdr. Armand Balilo said on Tuesday.
These 40-meter vessels can do patrol and search-and-rescue missions and will boost the nine-ship fleet of the PCG, Balilo added.
However, he said that no date is yet available regarding the delivery of the remaining seven patrol boats.
Balilo said the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) would provide a USD 184-million soft loan for the PCG’s acquisition of 10 patrol boats fromJapan .
