From InterAksyon (Mar 3): Suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits seize 2 children, maid, driver in Sulu
Two children and their driver and maid were seized Monday morning in Barangay Alat, Jolo, Sulu by five armed men believed to be members of the notorious Abu Sayyaf Group.
Capt. Ryan Lacuesta, Civil Military Officer of the 2nd Marine Brigade, said the kidnapping incident happened at about 7 a.m. while the victims were on their way to school.
“The abduction transpired at the vicinity of Scott Road. Hot pursuit operations to recover the victims and arrest the kidnappers were ongoing,” Lacuesta said.
The victims were identified as Mohammad Zaher Naim, 10, and his sister Raiza Karanain, 8, their 18-year-old maid Almalyn Abuhail, and family driver Saddam Amlih.
“The victims were on board a family vehicle when flagged down by five armed men and forcibly taken them at gunpoint on board a Tamaraw jeep and fled towards the direction of Barangay Anuling in Patikul town,” Lacuesta said.
