From the Philippine News Agency (Jan 15): AFP to recruit 20,000 personnel within 3 years
To ensure having a sufficient number of men to replace those retiring from the service, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief-of-staff Gen. Emmanuel Bautista on Wednesday announced that they will recruit 20,000 men and women within the next three years.
"We are just catching up with the requirements, personnel requirements and also the equipment requirements," he added.
Bautista estimates that this recruitment program will costs the AFP around P3 billion to P7 billion.
"The ideal situation is that we would have enough troops to address all our mandates," the AFP chief added.
The AFP is composed of the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marines.
The current strength of these four services combined only totals to 125,000 personnel.
