Abu Sayyaf kidnapeprs have freed the provincial treasurer of Sulu following a negotiation launched by his family, reports said Thursday.
Jess Cabilin was released in the town of Patikul late Wednesday. He was brought to Zamboanga City where he is reunited with his family.
Authorities tagged Cabelin's kidnappers as Ninok Sappari and Julli Ikit. The official was seized by gunmen inside his house in November.
Both Sappari and Ikit were also implicated in the March 2012 kidnapping of Indian national Viju Kolara Veetil and other Filipinos in Sulu, one of five provinces under the Muslim autonomous region.
