From the Philippine News Agency (Dec 4): No Christmas parties for all 8th Infantry Division units
As the country mobilizes all of its available resources to put right the damages caused by Supertyphoon "Yolanda", the 8th Infantry Divisionhas ordered all its personnel to forego the traditional Christmas party in respect to the thousands of people killed, injured and rendered homeless by the weather disturbance in the Eastern and Western Visayas.
Capt. Amado Gutierrez, 8th Infantry Division spokesperson, said that they will instead focus on helping on the ongoing relief and rehabilitation works inLeyte and other areas of their command.
The military outfit in the forefront of the government relief efforts inTacloban City , Leyte , helping in the clearing, repair, distribution of relief items and handing out of medical care to the displaced victims.
